Maintenance Technician

Location: Union City, CA

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician.

Salary/Shift: $80,000-$100,000 annually/Day Shift

Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, upkeep, and preventative maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facility systems in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures production equipment operates safely and efficiently to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. The Maintenance Technician must be skilled in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

  1. Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on production machinery, tools, and facility systems (e.g., HVAC, compressors, electrical panels).
  2. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and schematics.
  3. Repair or replace defective components, including motors, bearings, belts, sensors, pumps, valves, and wiring.
  4. Perform welding, fabrication, or machining when necessary for equipment repair or modification

Preventive Maintenance (PM)

  1. Execute scheduled PM tasks according to maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications.
  2. Document all maintenance and service activities accurately in maintenance logs or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  3. Identify trends in equipment failure and recommend long-term solutions.

Facility Support

  1. Support building and utility maintenance including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems.
  2. Respond promptly to facility maintenance requests and ensure safety compliance.
  3. Assist in plant or equipment upgrades, installations, and relocations.

Safety and Compliance

  1. Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures during maintenance activities.
  2. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures must be followed during repair or servicing of machinery.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the maintenance shop and spare parts inventory.
  4. Report unsafe conditions, worn equipment, or potential hazards immediately.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Provide input for equipment upgrades and improvements to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  2. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action teams to eliminate chronic maintenance issues.
  3. Support kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives within the maintenance function.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience repairing plastic injection machines(disassembling, assembling, repairing electrical/electronic systems, repair of pneumatic/hydraulic systems of machines, barrel cleaning/replacing, calibrations.)
  • 3+ years repairing auxiliary equipment(material dryers, water heaters, injection molding robots, hydraulic pumps, etc)
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, PLCs, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, climbing, bending, and working in tight spaces.
  • Comfortable working at heights or in varying temperatures depending on facility conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is usually in an office within a manufacturing facility with low to moderate noise level. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
