We are currently seeking a Tooling Engineer with the below qualifications:

Professional Attributes

  • Establish and maintain internal specifications for injection molding tooling.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation with regard to injection molding tooling including solid models, assemblies and prints.
  • Review production scheduling to prioritize and direct tooling maintenance and repair activities, including assigning resources as necessary for all PM’s, routine service, and emergency repairs of tooling
  • Manage a tooling maintenance scheduling and tracking system that is visual, accurate, and adequate to meet all internal requirements.
  • Use a data-driven approach to tooling maintenance and repairs, which includes tracking shot counts and maintenance history, to predictively schedule necessary actions to minimize tooling cost per shot, scrap generation, and machine downtime
  • Responsible for contacting tooling vendors for repairs in a timely manner, and securing competitive quotes for repairs being performed
  • Responsible for tracking and predicting tool life and obtaining replacement components in a proactive manner to support demand and ensure product quality
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining budgets for tooling repair and maintenance.
  • Facilitate effective communication across all departments, and within the tooling maintenance department across a two-shift operation, to share progress, status, and lessons-learned
  • Fulfill supervisory responsibilities including coordinating the duties and activities of personnel to meet production needs, training of personnel, timekeeping, and performance evaluations of tool shop personnel.
  • Regularly review dimensional reports on tools to ensure dimensional compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Provide engineering floor support on production injection molds for troubleshooting to minimize downtime and scrap
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a mold maker/engineer
  • Strong mathematic skills rare equired. Must have ability to calculate figures, simple trigonometry and problems with shop math
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong experience and background in reading technical manuals and documents
  • Strong background in injection mold engineering, mechanical design, and mold manufacturing. Ability to use DOE (Design of Experiment) and DFMEA (Design failure mode and effects analysis)
  • Ability to resolve practical problems associated with injection molds, components, fixtures, and support equipment
  • Mold-making or Engineering certificate preferred
  • Experience leading and managing a team of employees
