Mold Craft is located in the northeast corner of the Twin Cities metro area. Since 1964, Mold Craft has been a custom mold maker of injection molds for plastic and metal parts. We offer complete injection mold manufacturing services ranging from design to prototyping to tooling. Tight tolerance and high-volume multi-cavity molds are our specialty -- and our passion. As a member of our 38-employee team, you will help support our perfection-driven customers and all the Westfall molding facilities across North America.

Job Description:
As an Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced engineering team on a variety of projects. You will gain hands-on experience and contribute to the development and design of molds. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Strive for consistent progress, meeting designated timelines and task deadlines efficiently. Success will be gauged not just by meeting these benchmarks but by surpassing expectations and aiming to proactively complete tasks ahead of schedule.
  • Acquire the art of direct customer communication, delving deep into their needs to craft mold designs precisely tailored to their requirements. This skill ensures a seamless alignment between design and customer expectations.
  • Learn to design molds and equipment across a broad spectrum of types and sizes, catering to the diverse needs of both internal and external clients. This proficiency ensures a comprehensive ability to meet various customer demands.
  • Develop the skill set to offer guidance and support to production departments.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a two- or four-year degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and geometry skills are required.
  • Organizational abilities are a necessity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Software, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint or the ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Strong work ethic with an unwavering commitment to quality and professional results.
  • 3D Solid Modeling experience.
  • SolidWorks experience is a plus.
  • No experience designing injection molds is required.
  • Training Needed/Provided:
  • Epicor ERP System (onsite)
  • Mold Design and Detailing (onsite)
  • Documentation requirements and file structure systems (onsite)
  • Any other training required will typically be done onsite.

Duration:
This is a 12-week internship position, starting in May and ending in September. Flexible start and end dates can be considered based on academic schedules.
